HDTV & The Digital TV Transition

TV – an “icon of American culture for three-quarters of a century – is achterhaald.En in the UK the same can be said of the tube. . .
The most famous intersection in the family living room for generations, the traditional analog NTSC television set – the one everyone had for it was the only one available – is no more!
This solitary symbol, after standing steadfastly by so many decades, TV as we know – your TV – is now replaced. By the evolution of display technology, a new television has emerged; so different, a new TV “Paragon” was created. This ‘almost perfect’ model consists of a whole new set of icons instead of the One. Yesterday’s TV has yielded today: DTV SDTV … … … EDTV HDTV.

Since entering the new millennium, we have seen a number of important social changes that have actually changed how we live from day to day. Television in the Twenty-First Century is a feature of some of these veranderingen.TV, has long been inactive, finally emerged from the shadows where it dozed for decades. Now in the full light of a new era, TV has finally awakened to its full potential. The proof is shown by this surprising revelation, new vision. Digital TV is the bright dawn of a new day, after the long night of traditional TV.

The image quality of the new (digital) Standard Definition TV – “SDTV” – this is surprisingly superior to traditional analog TV, and the question arises – How Analog televisions survive so long with such an obviously poor picture quality? It is clear that we did not know what we missed!

SDTV but it was just the beginning. While we were learning about Digital TV, there was another “better” TV. This was identified as “High Definition Television.” It was said to be “incredibly better” than SDTV Digital.
However, while the High Definition TV (HDTV) is “digital” TV, it’s not quite the same as SDTV.The two have separate and distinctly different formats.
In fact, HDTV is just one of (18) formats the ATSC Digital TV standard covers. But beyond all argument, HDTV offers the ultimate TV picture quality. But to avoid any misunderstandings, it is important to note that digital HDTV is immeasurably more than “better TV picture.”
HDTV is the way to a brilliant new dimension and an almost unbelievable, new experience, both visually and aurally. Once you experience HDTV – You Want It!
Often, people who have not experienced HDTV will ask how to tell when a television is an HDTV.No problem – you know you watch an HDTV if your immediate reaction is … ”W O W!” … often followed by an involuntary exclamation of “… Unbelievable!”

Once you have made your choice, give a thought to use your new HDTV with Direct Sat TV and all your favorite programs look for less.

But before you think “wow” experience in your home, you’ll navigate your way through a number of new and strangely different and often complex paths. Unlike buying a traditional analog TV – a simple choice of size, price and maybe a few extra features – Digital High Definition TV requires decisions on a bewildering array of choices. Many of these decisions will be made easier after gaining some understanding of the basics of digital HDTV.

Digital HDTV Choices

At the same time that we transition from analog television, an evolution in television technology witness occurs. The familiar CRT TV (cathode ray tube – or “tube”) is supplanted by a series of new competitors. These include: LCD Plasma … … … DLP LCoS, to some of the emerging technology called television now competing for your attention.
This means that today’s consumer is required to make choices cover a wide range of issues, many involving new concepts or themes never before considered by the typical TV viewer.

For example …
Want a “Direct View ‘TV? Or would you prefer a “Rear Projection ‘TV? Perhaps a “Front Projection ‘TV is better?
If you stay with a traditional CRT TV, or go for one of the new “fixed pixel” displays?
How would you like your screen, flat-panel … Thin-profile … Wide-Screen … Big Screen – or even bigger!?
Are you interested in “HDTV” or “SDTV” satisfactory for your use? Or would you prefer to choose an “EDTV?

All you are trying to do is buy a new TV!
… Clearly – this is not your grandfather TV! “

In addition to the transition from analogue to digital television, and the dramatic impact on consumers, the impact of the continuing shock waves generated as television technologies to expand, with one after another new development. So, is it any wonder that consumers are more and more surprised to be? The current situation can only be described, at best, as complete chaos!
Our goal is to provide you with a (reliable) source of essential (useful) information about the basics of digital television and HDTV.
And the good news is … It does not require a degree in TV technology!
Our approach to digital HDTV is the view of the “Non-Tech” customers. As much as possible, we try the “technology-stuff to leave (and this covers a lot of ‘Stuff’!) For the” tech types “in the care.

We believe that you are interested in what you need to know to buy and enjoy digital HDTV – not how to build one!
This involves finding your way through, (what we called) “The digital-HDTV-MIS / Dis-Information © Maze.”
And it can be rough without a map. However HDTV Info Port a guide to help you navigate your way through the ‘maze’.
This means you do not need endless searching on the WWW, weed out any dead links, or sort through independent and obsolete items. Nor will you the trouble of deciphering of pages of technical data – to figure out the difference between DTV and HDTV.
HDTV Info Port looking for you, filters out the noise and decodes the ‘tech-speak. “ The results are given here – in one place – giving you a source where you can easily access the information you want.

Ready for a new adventure …
Then get ready to “The Digital-HDTV-Mis/Dis-Information-Maze ©” …

We welcome your questions and we can not promise to answer every individual email. As public awareness and interest in digital TV and HDTV has grown, so too is the volume of email questions – now surpassed our limited resources.

We encourage you to ask us your e-mail, but please understand we can not promise to answer every question by return email.
Alternatively, information updates, compared to questions we receive will be added to the website. Hopefully this will be an even greater advantage by sharing information with more readers.

Obviously, we will preserve the safety of all senders. At no time will the names or e-mail addresses are published, or to someone else.

HDMI Splitter: Distribute the Signals without any Complication

HDMI Splitter is an electronic device which is used to split a single HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) signal coming from a single source to multiple HDMI output devices. The HDMI Splitters split the signals in a way that there is no difference between the original image and the display image at the devices which are connected to HDMI Splitters (Without any effect on the signals).

Some of the guys are confused with HDMI Splitters and HDMI Routing Switcher. The main difference between them is, the image that appears on all screens will be identical and cannot be independently controlled when connected to an HDMI compatible device such as HD receiver/antennas in case of HDMI Splitter while a Routing Switcher is used to place multiple HDMI compatible output sources into a signal which can be changed via manual or remote control which could dictate what output reaches the display(s).

The one of the advantage of HDMI connector is to connect your hdmi device to other HDMI source via a single cable instead of use of many cables. There are verity of HDMI Splitters which have functionality depends upon the number of sources and destination, distance between source and display etc. The some devices are as follows:

•  1×2 HDMI Splitter: The 1×2 hdmi splitter (distribution amplifier) is used to split the signals from one HDMI source to 2 HDMI outputs. Theses are very useful in home theaters and digital signage applications.
•  1×4 HDMI Splitter: The 1×4 hdmi distribution amplifier (hdmi splitter) is used to distribute one signal to 4 identical signals which point to other other HDMI outputs. It is also very useful for digital signage applications.

The some other hdmi splitters are 1×8, 4×2, 4×4, 8×8 HDMI Splitter and many more according to there splitting capability. Before going to buy any hdmi splitter products you must insure that the features according to your requirement or not. Because it varies from manufactures to manufactures.

Wars Of The Tablet – Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 vs Apple iPad 2

The second iteration of the Apple’s tablet PC, the iPad 2 faces a different set of competition than its older brother.

DEAL OF THE DAY at TigerDirect

Ipad 1 is a major success and it has led other competitors to build their own tablets with the hopes of taking s share from the growing tablet market.

Let’s review and take a look at one of the iPad 2′s formidable competitor Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Initially introduced with a 7-inch display, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is more than just a size upgrade. It also features several enhancements as well.

Here is a head-to-head comparison between the Apple iPad 2 vs  Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

1. Processor

The iPad 2 is equipped with Apple’s dual-core 1GHz A5 processor, a major improvement over the previous iPad’s A4. The A5 chip boasts a graphical performance that is reported at ten times over the older tablet. As of this review, there is no report yet on the iPad 2′s RAM size but 512MB is expected.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is packed with the 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor. It’s the same with iPad 2 no figures are released yet as to the Galaxy Tab 10.1′s available RAM making a comparison difficult.

A tie score is appropriate for this category.

Advantage: Tie

2. Display

The iPad 2′s display is a carryover of the iPad 1. Which is not a bad thing because we still rate 9.7-inch backlit-LED IPS screen considered to be the best on it’s class.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 pixel screen. It is about half an inch larger than the iPad 2.

Still, we give the iPad 2 an edge in this category.

Advantage: Apple iPad 2

3. Build and Design

The build quality and design of apple are quite exquisite. The iPad 2 is a perfect representation of the company’s commitment to those ideals.

The iPad 2 is lighter and slimmer than its older brother but we did not feel a sacrifice in build quality and use of materials. It still feels solid but is now more comfortable to carry.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 sports a  246.2 x 170.4 x 10.9mm, 599g size and weight dimensions. The Tab looks longer and the iPad 2 looks shorter and slimmer. Weight difference is negligible.

We give our thumbs up to the iPad 2 in this category.

Advantage: Apple iPad 2

4. Operating System

The iPad 2 operates with iOS 4.3. While it has improvements over the previous OS in terms of web browsing and application, the improvements seem like a minor tune-up.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1′s Android 3.0 feels like it has been developed to take multi-tasking chores to another level. We feel “Honeycomb” OS are more user friendly now.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

5. Camera

The iPad 2′s cameras are a 0.7-megapixel main camera with 720P HD capture capability. It also features and a secondary VGA camera for video-conferencing purposes.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has an impressive 8 megapixel dual LED flash, 1080p Full HD video, 24fps camera at the rear and a 2 megapixel camera in front.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

6. Connectivity

EDR and A2DP capable and Bluetooth 2.1 are built in iPad 2. It also has Wi-Fi a,b,g & n, and an HDMI-output. However, it lacks a MicroSD slot, a USB port and a card reader. Its 3G connectivity is data only.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity. But, it has no SD card slot as well. So I guess a tie score would be fair for this category.

Advantage: Tie

As of this writing, Samsung has yet to announce its price for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. By far, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a slight advantage above iPad 2.
