Portable Digital
The Lorex LW2002W Digital Portable Color LCD Wireless Surveillance System is just as effective as a video baby monitor as it is a surveillance system. The Lorex LW2002W has the latest digital technology to prevent interference, the system uses ‘frequency hopping spread spectrum’ technology which guarantees privacy and no interference from devices such as cordless phones, wireless routers and microwave ovens.
As a parent you realise the benefits of being able to see and hear your baby are well worth the investment of a video baby monitor. No more accidentally waking up your baby when you go to check if your baby is sleeping or awake, just glance at your monitor. From a safety point of view, with an audio only monitor, you wouldn’t really be able to tell if the blankets had moved and were covering your baby’s face, the benefits of a video baby monitor are priceless.
Video Quality and Monitor Features:
Excellent quality video can be viewed on the 2.4″ LCD screen of the monitor. The transmission range is up to 450 feet. The camera has the ability to view images in low light conditions or full darkness. The camera comes with a power adaptor, rechargeable battery and cradle. The volume on the monitor can be adjusted by using the up and down arrow buttons. A special feature of this video baby monitor is that it can support an additional 3 cameras (total of 4) which have already been paired to the receiver. This is great if you want to monitor a second child in another room or even use another camera at the front of your house as a surveillance camera. The downside to adding extra camera’s is that they are reasonably expensive, about 80% of the cost of the initial system purchase.
Audio Quality:
Crisp, clear sound is what you’ll get from the Lorex LW2002W video baby monitor. It has a highly sensitive microphone allowing you to hear every little sound your baby makes if you choose too. If the noise in the room is below a certain level the sound automatically mutes itself, then when the sound in the room (eg.baby crying) reaches that threshold, the sound comes back on. It’s designed this way to prevent white noise (soft hissing sound), however it seems to be the most unpopular feature of the Lorex video baby monitor- many parents would prefer the sound to always be on with the volume adjustable.
Other Features:
The Lorex LW 2002W video baby monitor is very easy to set up, it takes only a couple of minutes. There is an ‘Out of Range’ notification message which notifies you when you have the camera and monitor/receiver too far apart to communicate with a strong signal.
The camera’s image can be displayed as a split screen on your television using picture-in-picture. This allows you to watch TV and view your baby at the same time. The system also works with a recording device such as a DVR or VCR.
There are only a few critical comments made about the Lorex LW2002W Digital Wireless Surveillance System when used as a video baby monitor, the main one is not being able to have the sound turned on constantly, secondly you can get audio feedback if you take the portable monitor too close to the camera, however, this is standard for any audio equipment if the receiver gets too close to the source. Thirdly the battery life is a bit poor.
Overall this is quite simply an outstanding, affordable, video baby monitor disguised as a surveillance system. Average customer rating 4* out of 5*.

how can a portable digital tv work after June 12?
Target has one on sale this week, and no one at the store could answer this question. If it’s really portable, how can it get a signal?
