Is it Worth Investing in 3D HDTV?

Early in 2010 Samsung launched the first commercially available 3D HDTV. The question that gets asked any time a new technology is launched is, is it worth investing in this new technology?

Firstly we need to consider whether this technology is here to stay or will it be replace by the next big thing next year. Well, 3D has been around for a while. Don't we all remember the red and green paper glasses we needed to wear in the old 3D movies that we've seen in the last few years?

Hollywood would also not have spent millions of dollars on movies such as the new 3D Shrek if this was just the fashion technology of the month. So what have the TV manufacturers done? Another way to think of it is would Samsung and the other TV manufacturers launch new 3D TV's if this wasn't the next step in TV?

So now the question becomes not should you, but when? Like all new technology the answer lies in your own circumstances. If you need a new TV then a 3D HDTV is the latest technology, so you can't go wrong there. If you love new technology then this is for you. Your friends will be talking about you for weeks to come. You'll be the next king of the movie nights amongst your friends.

The trick with 3D HDTVs is to do your homework especially as the technology is still new. Make sure that you know what you want and what are the minimum specifications that you will need for your circumstances.
