If you're like me, you are getting fed up with the movie theater/cinema experience - people around you talking during the movie, the distratcting glow from phones when people in front of you are texting, cellphones ringing when they should be turned off, general bad behavior of some members if the audience who appear to have come in to get out of the rain rather than watch the movie; the crinkle of sweet bags or the guy beside you munching noisy nachos.
The days of people respecting others' enjoyment seem to be gone and, for that reason among others, many, like myself, now prefer to watch the not-quite-latest Hollywood blockbuster on a big-screen TV at home.
The afficionados of the home cinema experince will build a home theater to suit their needs, adding an amplifier and speakers, get the best large-screen, high-definition TV they can afford and build up a collection of much loved movies on DVD or Blu-Ray. These setups are great for having a few friends around to participate in the viewing experience, whether that's watching a blockbuster movie or a football game.
This site is for those people who enjoy, or think they will enjoy (if they haven't joined the ranks yet) the home cinema experience. Here you'll find equipment and software (DVD, Blu-Ray, computer software) reviews and find news, advicem information and tips from the world of video entertainment.
I've been enjoying the home cinema experience for the better part of 15 years. I started out by adding a Dolby Digital amp to my TV, followed by a DVD player in '97, a 36" widescreen CRT TV a couple of years later. Then I replaced the amp with a more power one and put 5 speakers into to room (my setup is in an an ardinary living room - no dedicated install). Most recently, the CRT was replaced by a 50" Pioneer Kuro and I added HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players.
