DirecTV dish for FTA?

I have an old (2 years) DirecTV dish that is mounted outside with plenty of swivel room for repointing and I was wondering what I need (or some recommendations) to get FTA programming. I would like to purchase a servo to repoint the dish, I'll probably need a polarizing block (horizontal / vertical switch) and the actual receiver box. I'm looking at Ku band stuff, which the DirecTV dish and LNB should support. Can anyone offer recommendations and feasibility?
I'm considering the Pansat receiver for this setup, not sure which model, although I may end up buying a kit and just reusing the mounting hardware and nothing else.

Would I have to be concerned with PAL/SECAM/NTSC on my television, or will the receiver do a conversion for me, or will the video format be 'universal' for mpeg2 / dvb?

I will do a lot more reading on my own, too.
