Both these 13.3-inch laptop models are currently some of the hottest ultra-slim laptop models in the market. The Asus UL30A-X5 is a little more powerful than the Toshiba Satellite T135-S1310, but overall, they are interchangeable models for the average laptop users.
The Toshiba Satellite T135-S1310 comes with an Intel Pentium SU4100 processor (1.3Ghz), 4GB of RAM and 320GB for storage. The Asus UL30A-X5 on the other hand has an Intel Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM and 500GB for storage. Both models have a HD display with the same resolution (1366 x 768). Both models also come with 3 USB ports, a HDMI output, and a memory card reader. That's where the similarity ends.
The Toshiba Satellite T135-S1310 comes with several extra features such as Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity and the sleep-and-charge function. On the other hand, the Asus UL30A-X5 laptop also have some features not found on the Toshiba model. For instance, it comes with built-in SRS Premium Sound speakers from Altec Lansing. It also has a longer battery life, lasting up to 12-hours on one charge. The Toshiba model can last up to 9 hours on one full charge.
There are also notable differences in their design. The Asus model has a metal-brushed finish on its external casing while the Toshiba model has a sleek glossy finish. The Asus model is the thinner and lighter laptop measuring at just 0.98-inches in thickness and weighing 3.74 pounds. The Toshiba model measures 1.35-inches in thickness and weighs 3.9 pounds. So which is the better ultra-thin laptop model? Despite its many differences, it still may prove to be difficult to make a choice. The 13.3-inch Toshiba Satellite T135-S1310 has a major price advantage (costing about $593 per unit, which is about $100 cheaper than the Asus model). The Asus UL30A-X5 on the other hand has a better feature set and a gorgeous design. If you have some extra cash to spare, the Asus model will make an excellent buy.
